About UsLegal Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland Created in 1986, Legal Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland (Legal Mutual) was brought about by the Maryland Legislature as a direct result of the efforts of the Maryland State Bar Association to provide Maryland attorneys with an accessible, stable, yet affordable, market for lawyers professional liability insurance. Legal Mutual is the only professional liability insurance company endorsed by the Maryland State Bar Association. Legal Mutual is a non-assessable, policyholder owned mutual company servicing the insurance needs of Maryland attorneys, and every one of its policyholders is a Maryland attorney or law firm. The Company is dedicated to serving the Maryland legal community on a long-term basis. The Company also offers a variety of educational services, including its newsletter The Solicitor. Legal Mutual, at June 30, 2006, had admitted assets in excess of $6,500,000 and policyholders' surplus in excess of $1,600,000. Legal Mutual's reinsurance program is 100% subscribed by "A-" or better rated reinsurance companies. Legal
Mutual utilizes the services of Grace Actuarial Consulting, Inc.
of Washington Crossing, PA to certify that its loss reserves
meet the requirements of the insurance laws of the State of Maryland. Legal Mutual utilizes the accounting firm of Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C. of Jamestown, NY for its annual financial audit. |
