The board of directors of Legal Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland (Legal Mutual) announced at the meeting of the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association held on June 14, 2006 in Ocean City, Maryland, that Legal Mutual has entered into a management agreement with Minnesota Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company (“MLM”). Under the terms of the agreement, scheduled to become effective October 1, 2006, MLM will manage all of Legal Mutual’s daily operations.

Cleaveland D. Miller, Chairman of Legal Mutual, reported to the Board that the business partnership allows Legal Mutual to continue providing quality insurance products and services to Maryland lawyers while significantly reducing Legal Mutual’s expenses. “MLM was formed in 1982 and has an excellent reputation for providing superb risk management and claim services. We are confident that MLM will bring that same level of service to the Maryland legal community,” Mr. Miller said.

Legal Mutual believes this partnership will improve the financial results and stability of the Company. The Legal Mutual Board of Directors will continue to serve the lawyers of Maryland as it has for the past 20 years. Mr. Miller stated: “Our insureds will continue to receive Legal Mutual policies. Only the day-to-day management and operations of the Company will be handled by MLM.” Details of this new arrangement will be finalized as October 1 approaches.
