MSBA 2006 Mid-Winter Meeting, A Tremendous Success

Welcome to the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort in Santa Cruz, Costa Rica, where the Maryland State Bar Association held it’s 2006 Mid-Winter Meeting from February 18-26, 2006. Two flights were scheduled, the first group from February 18th through the 25th, and the second group from February 19th through the 26th. 258 MSBA members and guests attended.
A 2,500 acre five star all inclusive resort; a private golf course; a private cove and beach on the Pacific; a private casino; a children’s club; a teen dance club; an unsurpassed educational conference facility; free transportation to anywhere on the resort property; excellent shops; a computer café; wonderful restaurants; great food; live entertainment every evening; and almost too many side trips available to choose from. It just doesn’t get much better than this.
The educational sessions were well organized, timely and well attended. The Farewell Reception, sponsored in part by Legal Mutual, was outstanding. Each participant was greeted with a warm smile and a lei upon entering the party through a flowered gateway. The decorations and table centerpieces of tropical flowers were almost mind-boggeling they were so beautiful. Musical entertainment was provided by a disc-jockey and the quality and variety of food and drink served was incredible. Wanda Claiborne, of the MSBA, deserves tremendous accolades as the un-sung hero of the event for her ability to arrange these meetings so flawlessly on behalf of the MSBA members and their guests. Chip Wanek at Towson Travel doesn’t do a half-bad job either.
If you haven’t signed up yet for the MSBA 2007 Mid-Winter Meeting to Sunscape Casa Del Mar, La Romana, Dominican Republic, you better hurry because it’s selling out fast. Two planes have been chartered for next year, and both are for Saturday/Saturday arrival/departure, February 24, 2007 to March 3, 2007. The first plane has already been sold out!
